Burn After Reading

If the movie title “Much Ado about Nothing” wasn’t already taken, this would’ve been the perfect title for this movie. Though this isn’t the Coen Brothers strongest film ever made, it goes to show that they could make a movie about poop and critics would rave. This movie was no exception as a movie without a plot and end up with the Coen charm!

With an all-star cast that includes Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton , Frances McDormand, John Malcovich, and more! You take these big actors, two creative directors, the Coen Brothers, and have them play “Whose Line Is It Anyways” with the scene played in Washington DC, and the narration from the CIA and stir the pot up, with all these actors with a odd script that should be “Burn after reading.”

This movie was really strange and weird to the point that one of JK Simmons lines in the film is “This is to confusing, what the hell is this all about?” I am not sure what else to say. This was one of those movies that after I saw it, I thought, what did I just see? Was it worth the payment to see it? Was this movie just one big joke? I was rather disturbed about it. I was disappointed. It wasn’t till after I digested it what I saw, talked with others who have seen the film, that I started seeing the genius of this movie.

I realized this comedy, wasn’t far from real life after my next day at work... I loved France McDormand's character. She was hilarious, because her whole conviction in the film was only wanting money to get plastic surgery, and doing whatever it takes to do so. The one character that I didn’t think did a great job was George Clooney. It was like he was playing another “Daper Dan Man” but in a modern day while working for the department of treasury. The character that I thought hands down was the best was JK Simmons, who played a higher up in the CIA, his scenes were few, but he stole the spot light when he was the silver screen.

So here we go, should you see it? If you like the Coen Brothers, then definitely see it. If you are not really a movie goer, and you just like quick laughs, then skip this movie. Overall I do think that taking a movie, without a real plot, a given it to the most talented directors duo of our time, with some brilliant actors who will give it there all…then you will see how brilliant these people in the film industry are, regardless what the movie is all about.

If you like this movie ,I recommend:
