Mario Kart Wii

I was a skeptic when it came to playing Nintendo, because I always felt that they use the same characters over and over, and were is the originality?????? Well, I must admit I ate my words with the new Mario Kart.

I applaud the originality of doing something different with a racing game. The whole idea of having wireless steering wheels as controllers is fun. I enjoy the whole steering like mad and throwing banana peels and flying shells to knock out your opponent to gain the lead by eating a mushroom or two...

Not only can you race, (which can be fun) you can play other type of combat games, such as collecting the most coins, or trying to pop your opponents balloons in various types of levels. The more you accomplish in first place, the more levels and different type of vehicles you are able to use.

Besides the wheel that it comes with of being unique and fun, you can also play against your sister Utah, and your brother in DC, and a long lost cousin in France all at the same time. Or you can simply play different people around the world. You are defaulted with 5000 points, and when you race or play any of the other games, depending on where you place in the rankings you will either win or loose points. You can also have a family member or friend play along at home.

Some levels look great with the graphics while others are disappointing, wondering how it made it into the game. Overall, Wii is making a stand for everyone to play. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my wife’s interest to play this game, I probably would not have purchased it. I am glad that she did, because it was worth the $80 for two wheels and the game.

I loved the Mario Kart games for the Super NES and the 64. I still haven't played a Wii, but if I did, this would be the first game I'd want to play. Nice review.

The reviews killed this as completely just a copy of older versions. I'm interested. We'll probably get it. Why can't Nintendo get "online" right?
