In Bruges

It has been a while were we can see a hitman movie that can be in the same category as Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs, subsequently both directed by Quentin Tarantino with that witty dialogue and logical chemistry between characters. So here comes this Indy-esk film that is directed by Martin McDonagh, starting off as another typical “hitman” film, will it compare? Definitely I would say yes.
Colin Farrell plays an Irish hitman name Ray, and his partner Ken who is played by Brendan Gleeson. They were sent to Bruges to hide out after a bad hit rolls over. There boss Harry, who is played by the infamous Ralph Fiennes, plays a great role as a mob boss. What they didn’t know is that Harry has different plans for these two. Watching Farrell and Gleeson play the odd couple in this film, and with a lot of dark humor, you find it to be quite entertaining.
This film started off a little slow, and you try to figure out where is this movie going. You find that Ray, had screwed up in his first hit, and then you find that he is unstable with what happened and you feel the pain that he feels. The movie really shows the difference between innocence and those who aren’t. You see the great dialogue and it has comical times, and times were you feel pain and sorrow, and by the time you get to the end of the film, you suddenly realize that the great story telling really shined through.
What didn’t work for me is the musical score. For some reason it felt like it was stolen from a romance 80’s movie and it didn’t fit in the movie for me. The great acting and story definitely put this movie as one of the great hitman movies and one of the best movies this year.

I've had this in my DVD queue forever. I NEED TO SEE THIS. SilentKid said it was his favorite film so far this year.
It is a definite MUST SEE. It is one of those films, that you keep thinking about after and realize how genius it is!!!
Yep. This still is my favorite film of 2008. We'll see if Burn After Reading can beat it.
